The floats at the Puerto Rican Day Parade will be melting this weekend, it’s going to be a scorcher. This weekends forecast: temperatures in the mid 90’s (35c) with a heat index of 100 (37.7c). And on top of that, add a heavy dose of humidity to the mix for a nice sticky drench. Dress loosely, T-shirts and shorts are a must.
This Sunday June 8th, marks the 51st anniversary of the Puerto Rican day parade. An annual event which draws close to 3 million spectators along 5th ave between 44th street to 86th street. The party starts from 11am-6pm. Expect lots of floats, Latin music and celebrity appearances.
The real party though is on 116th street in East Harlem. A stage is set up for hot performances and dancing.
You don’t have to be Puerto Rican to enjoy the festivities, just some “Latin Flava” in your step. 😉
