Green Light for Midtown Program = more walking space in Times Sq!

Since May 24th, Broadway has been closed to through-traffic at Times Square (from 47th Street to 42nd Street) and Herald Square (from 35th Street to 33rd Street). Diverting traffic on alternate and faster routes.

In addition to the congestion relief pilot program at Times and Herald Squares, new pedestrian plazas on Broadway from 47th Street to 42nd Street and from 35th Street to 33rd Street. The plazas provide more than three acres of new public space for shoppers, office workers, and tourists, allowing for increased foot traffic – a potential boon for tourism and sales at local stores and restaurants.

While you’re there,  pass on by to the Citysights NY visitor center located at 234 w. 42nd street in the heart of times square for tickets to bus tours, museums, attractions and more!
