Hi! I’m Shannon, the Social Media Specialist for CitySights NY.
The great part about my job is that I’m connected to Social Media platforms 24/7. While scrolling through my Twitter-feed one afternoon, I noticed a really neat @SpideyonBway Twitter contest that only required folks to RT one of their messages.
A few hours later, I received a message that I had won! Yippee! Both myself and a friend were guaranteed spots on the Spider-Fan bus during the Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark Red Carpet event outside Foxwoods Theatre in Times Square.
The Red Carpet was SO exciting!
From the top of the double-decker bus, we saw Barbara Walters, Liam Neeson, Matt Damon, Julie Taymor, Bono and The Edge, Cindy Crawford, Steve Martin, Spike Lee, Gayle King and more.
Needless to say, I was a little star-struck. It’s not every day you see your favorite celebrities gathering in the same spot.
Unfortunately Mother Nature was not cooperating that night, but the bus driver was prepared and handed us Spider-fans bright yellow ponchos.
Do not try this at home, folks.
The original Twitter contest was for 2 spots on the Spider-fan bus, but about an hour into the event, someone made an announcement that we’d all receive free tickets to the show!
Ahhh! Pretty exciting, right?
Overall, the show was INCREDIBLE.
The set design, lighting, stunts and final fight scene gave me chills and are definitely something you need to see on your next trip to New York.
Although I wasn’t a big fan of the songs at first, I will admit I’ve had “Rise Above” by Reeve Carney (Peter Parker) as well as Bono and The Edge on repeat the past week!
