Statue of Liberty will Re-Open on October 28th

UPDATE: The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island have closed due to damages from Superstorm Sandy. Reopening date TBD.

Great news! It has been announced that the Statue of Liberty is going to re-open its interior to tourists on October 28, 2012, according to the AP.  As you know, the statue has been closed for the past year due to much needed renovation, but now the new and improved statue is getting ready to open up again.

October 28th will be Lady Liberty’s 126th birthday, and what better present is there than re-opening her interior!  During the renovations, tours were still available to Liberty Island where people could walk around the statue’s exterior, but no one has been allowed inside.
