A vibrant celebration is around the corner as one of the world’s most spectacular parades is approaching!
NYC awaits a mixture of a carnival and political demonstration with a splash of colors in the streets. The city turns into one big rainbow-colored party zone, stretching from Fifth Avenue through Greenwich Village and onto the Hudson River piers.
June is the month where LGBT communities and advocates from all over NY celebrate freedom at the annual NYC Pride Week. As we approach the two-year anniversary of the same-sex marriage bill in New York, there’s even more reasons for locals celebrate.
Typically, the NYC Gay Pride Parade is held on the last Sunday in June. The Annual Gay Pride Rally and the Dance on the Pier is also celebrated about the same time, all culminating in the big parade and the Pride Fest street fair wrapping up Gay Pride Week.
The rally will kick off NYC Pride’s official event at the Hudson River Park’s Pier 26, on June 28th. June 29th will be when the VIP rooftop party and the Rapture on the River take place.
Wrapping up the fun weekend, Pride Fest combines vendors, entertainers and activities for a day of fun and celebration. Pride Fest is the perfect place for you to stop and listen to some music, grab a bite, and get some great Pride gear. After scoring some cool gear, you should be ready to march. The March is a celebration in name of the equality.
The Dance on the Pier will close the world’s longest running Pride Week with a fireworks display along the Hudson River.
Have fun and be proud!
