Father’s Day in NYC

Right about now, you’re beginning to think about Father’s Day.  You’re remembering all of the good times that you had with your father; all that he has done for you.  (And if you weren’t before,  you’re thinking about it now that you’ve read the past two sentences.)  How are you going to repay him for the priceless effort that he’s put into raising you?  Bring him to New York City of course!

Here are our favorite ways to celebrate with your dad this year:

Take him to Citi Field

Meet the Mets, Meet the Mets.  Step right up and greet the Mets!  There’s something about the freshly cut grass of a baseball diamond that makes dads everywhere smile.  Father’s Day and baseball seemingly go hand-in-hand, so I’m sure the Citi Field will have a great atmosphere.  What’s that you say, your dad’s from Cincinnati?  Great news, the Reds are the team the Mets are playing!  Funny how things just work out sometimes.

McSorley’s Ale House

Nothing says “I Love you, Dad” quite like an ice cold glass of Guinness, and what better place to go than the oldest bar in New York City.   McSorley’s in the East Village has been around since 1854 but can still pour a pint with the best of them.  Treat your dad to a relaxing meal of beer and burgers to show him you really appreciate him.

Get Some Culture

Spend some quality time with Dad while you queue up for some theater tickets in Central Park.  Shakespeare in the Park is back and tickets to show are free; it’s just a matter of getting there first to claim them.  The feature show on Father’s Day is As You Like It at 8 p.m., but tickets are distributed at 1, and you’ll have to get there early!

Do the Tourist Thing

So you want to take your wine drinking, theater hating, Yankee fan Dad to New York for Father’s Day but we haven’t given you an idea yet?  Why not just go the classic tourism route?  We have dozens of different options to suit your needs, so maybe you should consider a bus tour combo or a helicopter ride.  Even if you’re from around town, a tour is something that you’d never regularly do, but I’m sure your dad will love it!
